Introduction

WarCraft 2 is a strategy game. You can play as Noble Human or evil Orc. You can engage in Land, Sea, and Air combat. WarCraft can also be played Multiplayer via network or modem. For information about palying over the Internet goto my Multiplayer Page. Below are the Human and Orc unit descriptions.

Human Units

A Peasant
Peasants are the core of the army. They labor in the gold mines, in forest, and construct all Alliance buildings. Their combat skills are primitive so use them in battle only as a last resort.
Footmen
Footmen are the basic offensive unit of the Alliance. They weild long swords to smite the enemy and basic unit of armour.
Elf Archer
Elven Archer are your basic defensive unit. They fire arrows into the enemy. They can be upgraded to rangers. Archers have no Armour.
Elf Rangers
Elven Rangers are more powerful than archers. They can see farther and fire sharper arrows. They also have no Armour.
Knights
The Knights of Azeroth ride mightly steeds, wear heavy Armour, and weild deadly warhammers. Knights are faster than other units.
Paladins
Paladins are the Holy Order of Knights. They can battle the evil forces of The Horde like no other unit. They can heal injured units, cast out undead, and see unexplored terrian.
Dwarven Demolition Squads
Dwarven Demolition Squads are dwarves armed to the teeth with powerful explosives. They wear little armour and can do little damage in their attacks. Their primary function is the blowing up of obstacles such as: walls, Rocks, buildings, and units.
Mage
Mages are only powerful in their magic attacks. Mages can launch fire balls, command Blizzards, polymorph enemies, sheild units with fire, slow down enemy units, and make units invisible.
Balista
Balistas are giant crowsbows formed the by the Elven craftsmen. A Balista fires a large bolt(or Arrow) into the enemy unit or building cause a large amount of damage. However, their armour is weak and if not properly aided it can be destroyed by a peasant.
Oil Tanker
A Oil Tanker hauls oil from an oil patch to a shipyard. Oil is required for must sea going vessels.
Transport
Transports are heavily armoured ships that carry passengers across water. They have no offensive abilities, but are crucial in sea combat.
Elven Destroyer
Destroyer are fast little ships that are manned by Elves. Destroyers are your basic offensive Water Unit. These can also fire at flying units.
Battle Ship
Battle Ships are slower than destroyers, but are more powerfull and they have more armour. They can't fire at flying units.
Sub
Dwarven Subs are powerful under water units and can only be seen by flying units.
Flying Machine
The Dwarven Flying Machine is a fast non-ofensive air unit. It can spot undr water units, but it has little armour.
Gryphon
Gryphon Riders are your only offensive air unit. They wear no Armour, but are still very powerfull.

Orc Units

Peons
Peon are the lowly Horde slaves. They construct the many structures of the Horde.
Grunts
Grunts are your basic offencive unit.
Troll Axe Thrower
Trolls through mighty axes at the enemy. Trolls wear no Armour.
Beserkers
Troll Beserkers are bigger and stronger trolls. They also wear no Armour.
Ogres
Ogres are two-head giants that beat the enemy with their fists.
Ogre Mage
Ogres Mages are more powerfull that normal Ogres. They can make units stronger, see unexplored terrian, and setup magic traps.
Goblin Sappers
Goblin Sappers are your demolition teams.
Death knight
Death Knights are undead mages which ride undead steads. They can make units faster, invincible, can drain energy from opponents, Raise Undead Corps, Command Whirl winds, and decay units.
Catapult
Catapults can be used for offence and defence. They lauch flaming rocks into the air to destroy enemy targets.
Oil Tankers
Oil tankers haul oil from oil patches to ship yards.
Transport
Transports carry units across water.
Troll Destroyer
Destroyers are ships manned by Trolls.
Juggernaught
Juggernaughts are massive Battleships manned by ogres.
Giant Turtles
Giant Turtles are trained by goblins to fight for the Horde.
Goblin Zepplin
Goblin Zepplins fly high above the ground and can see miles of terrian.
A Dragon
Dragons are great flying creatures. They wear little armour, but expell great fire balls.

Editors

Warcraft comes with a standard map editor (and sound editor) which is easy to use and can do some cool things. However, if you'd like to make some cool puds that goto the extreme of weirdness then try these editors.

There is an expansion pack for Warcraft II called Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal which includes more multiplayer PUDs, Levels, and Heros.
